Die Amplid Story

Amplid was founded by Peter Bauer and Anian Thrainer in 2005 to build better snowboards and skis; to this day that remains Amplid’s single-minded mission. The yearly cycle of bringing new snowboards and skis to market is at times frustrating, hectic and always hard work, but when we get to rip a couple of turns on a new design, receive an email from a stoked customer or hear buzz about an Amplid shred at a demo day, it’s all worth it.

At Amplid we go about our daily business with some simple but important ethics; that we value our customers, we take pride in our work, we care about the environment and we love our brand.

To make sure your Amplid product will deliver performance time and time again all our Skis and Snowboards go through extensive development and testing. All of the materials used in Amplid products are from trusted suppliers who guarantee quality and consistency. Amplid skis and snowboards are manufactured in two of the most forward thinking and environmentally responsible factories in the European Alps, each with a motivated, professional and local workforce. And the suppliers from which we source these materials are situated within 400km of its factories to minimise unnecessary transportation mileage. Four years ago Amplid’s development of less environmentally harmful material solutions and manufacturing techniques won the ISPO Eco award and we have implemented many of the learnings from this project into our products. Because at the end of the day, anything we can do to keep the mountains white is just good business sense!

Most importantly, the team at Amplid is very proud of the skis and snowboards that the company designs and manufactures in the European Alps.

Die 8 Gründe warum Bergwerker sich für Amplid entschieden haben - und ihr euch auch?

1.

Eco Conscious – At Amplid we continue to pioneer green technologies and we work exclusively with environmentally considerate factories. Amplid also has one of the smallest logistical footprints in the industry, sourcing every material used in its skis and snowboards from suppliers no more than 300km from its factories.

2.

Made in the Alps – Amplid’s skis and snowboards are manufactured in the European Alps, a region with over 100 years of ski building heritage and a workforce that prides itself on building the best.

3.

Small Brand Approach – Amplid is a small brand, able to react quickly on team rider and market demands.

4.

Big Brand Manufacturing – Our relationships with two of the best factories in the Alps guarantees product quality that other small brands just can’t match.

5.

No Cookie Cutting – All Amplid’s ski and snowboard geometries are unique to Amplid and have been designed and tested in-house. Our passion is R&D so sticking our graphics on an OEM product just doesn’t cut it.

6.

RnD Before Marketing – We believe that innovation and superior product quality are our best marketing tools. We focus on these instead of building an impressive team roster or paying for expensive double page magazine spreads.

7.

Communicate Direct – Do you have a question about our product or need to make a warranty enquiry? We won’t palm you off on your nearest local retailer, just drop us an email and we’ll be in contact within 48 hours.

8.

Rider Owned & Independent – Perhaps it’s a bit of a cliche these days, but Amplid is an independent brand, owned entirely by ex-snowboard World Champion Peter Bauer. We don’t have shareholders to satisfy or dividends to pay so we can concentrate on keeping our customers happy, not the big wigs.
